Wheaton Arts Parade (WAP) follows all Montgomery County and State of Maryland restrictions and guidance for the COVID-19 pandemic. Click here to see current county guidance.
It is possible that the restrictions and guidelines will be amended before the September 19 Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival. WAP will adapt its plans accordingly. Although masks are not required for outdoor events, WAP encourages all participants to wear masks and keep safe social distance whenever the situation warrants. WAP encourages everyone to bring a mask and to respect others who wear masks and want to keep a safe social distance.
A parade of artists and spectators along the sidewalk can take place with safe social distancing and face coverings for those who want to wear them. The artists’ tents at the festival are open on all sides and the artists will manage the number of visitors at their booth so that they do not become too crowded. Food vendors will follow all requirements in place for outdoor eating at county restaurants and bars and guests will be able to find a safe place to eat on the festival grounds. There will be a 30ft x 40ft tent sheltering a large section of the grassy terrace facing the Plaza Stage.
The Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival will adapt to the situation and comply with all public health requirements. WAP will go even further than currently required in encouraging the wearing of masks and safe social distancing. WAP strongly believes that the community will benefit greatly from the fifth annual parade of art and celebration of our diverse cultures. We request that participants and the public help WAP to produce a parade and festival that gives the highest priority to public health and safety.
